IIHF NAMES REFEREES, LINESMEN FOR 2017 IIHF ICE HOCKEY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP



          May 2017 will be the busiest month for the hockey lovers as 16 nations are going to grapple with each other for 2017 IIHF ice hockey world championship. On the one side fans are waiting with curiosity for the ice hockey action of 2017 and on the other side, the organizing committees are trying to do their best for the fans and participants.
Recently the IIHF officiating Committee has cut the 32 officials for the world championship including the 16 Referees and 16 Linesmen.
         These 32 officials are selected from the long list of 75 names on the basis of their performances during the ongoing hockey season at international and national competitions so that players could have the best referees and linesmen for the matches.
         So not only the players of ice hockey teams, participating in the championship need to roster their teams but also to the officials as the selection process for the official was quite tough and unbiased so that players and fans could enjoy the healthy competition in the championship matches.
         This team of 32 officials for the ice hockey games includes the mix of veterans and young aspiring officials and this team has 20 officials that have already experience of ice hockey world championship combining the experience of 61 championships.
Remaining 12 officials means 6 referees and six linesmen are selected for the first time for this international event but they have officiated in other IIHF events like IIHF World Junior championship.
          Daniel Piechazek who is the most experienced referee of the event is going to officiate his 9th IIHF ice hockey championship in his home country. He is one of the two German officials with linesman Lukas Kohmuller, who is invited for the first time. The second one is the Swiss referee Tobias who is called for 8th time as before he has called the gold medal games in 2015 and 2016. Along with the Tobias one referee, Roman Gofman and Linesman Gleb Lazarev are selected from the last finals that are from Russia.
        Nations Czech Republic and Finland are leading in the number of officials with four each for this 2017 IIHF ice hockey world championship and overall these best 32 officials are selected from the 14 different countries including the two non- participation nations named Austria and Netherlands.  So fans could enjoy the fair 64 games under the supervision of these 32 officials for 2017 IIHF ice hockey world championship.
