Here is what to expect at the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship games




Two countries and that is Germany and France have joined hands in the preparation of the Ice Hockey World Championship 2017. The games will begin in Germany after which will proceed in France. They totaled up to 16 countries and are divided into two groups for the preliminary round. The arrangement is as follows; 1A-4B, 2A-3B, 1B-4A, 2B-3A. The top four graded teams of each group will head to the quarterfinals and will be played crossover. The team that takes the first position of the preliminary round will have to play with the fourth positioned team of another group. In the same way, the team that takes the second position will play the third place team of the other group. Teams that win in this first phase will head for the semifinals. 

           In all the games, a winning team will have 3 points and if it is a tie, 1 point will be awarded for each team. 5 minutes will be added in the case a game is finished with a tie and a losing team will get no point at the end of the game. If a team happens to win in the five added minutes, an additional point (1) will be given to it. If at all there is a tie between the playing team at the end of the regulation time, five minutes shall be added and if any team happens to score before the five minutes erupt, the game will be ended and if the five minutes erupt without any score shoots procedures will be applied. 

The following are to be recognized at the end of the game:

  • The goal differences
  • The highest goals scored by a particular team
  •  The highest points
  •  And the team that takes the top position in the group.
  • The seeds

      Just like other games, the championship experience is heating up and teams are working hard to give their best in Germany and France. The goalies of each team are raising expectations, but until that final day, no one can judge the teams. There will be wonders, astonishing moments, and talent approval and so on. Burning moments, disappointments, and upsets will also be there. For the fans who may not make it to Germany or France, they can stream the games online for free anywhere they may be.
